The Rwanda national football team, nicknamed Amavubi (The Wasps), represents Rwanda in international football. It is controlled by the [Rwanda Football Federation] (FERWAFA).
History: Rwanda's first official international match was a friendly against Burundi in 1972. They gained FIFA membership in 1978. While they haven't qualified for a FIFA World Cup, their best performance was qualifying for the [2004 African Cup of Nations].
Stadium: The Amavubi usually play their home games at the [Amahoro Stadium] in Kigali.
Performance: Rwanda is consistently trying to improve their standing within the African football landscape. Their current FIFA ranking fluctuates, but they are working on youth development and infrastructure to compete at higher levels. They compete in the [CECAFA Cup].
Notable Players: A few players have gained recognition playing for clubs in foreign leagues. The national team is built on a mix of experienced players and rising talents from the domestic league.
